(Homs, Bab Al-Sebaa)
The land for the church was donated by the late Fareeda Qassis. The foundation stone was laid by the late Archbishop Mar Malatius Barnaba in 1993, and the first mass was held on Christmas Eve in 1998.
What distinguishes this church is that it was built by the hands of the parishioners. They would go to their jobs in the morning and work on building the church at night, utilizing various skills and receiving assistance from the surrounding community.
The church is square-shaped with the altar located in the eastern corner, facing east. Several committees of parish members have successively overseen the parish, organizing various cultural and artistic activities. In 2005, an apartment behind the church was purchased and integrated into its facilities. Underneath the church, there is a hall for church activities and events that can accommodate approximately 300 people, used by the parish for both celebrations and condolences.
The church is managed by an endowment committee appointed by the diocesan bishop in consultation with the parish priest. The church hosts the following activities: a religious education center serving all age groups, providing education and services to the parish and the surrounding area; a women’s fellowship currently comprising 90 ladies; a brass band with a full set of instruments and trainers, comprising 80 members; a musical group with 20 musicians playing various instruments; and a theater group that recently presented two performances (“The Abandoned Well” and “The Green Island”). Additionally, the charitable committee provides relief and assistance as resources allow.
