The parish of Tartous was originally composed of families who came and settled in the city for work, overseen by the Archdiocese of Homs and Hama. After the events that Syria faced in 2011, many Syriac families from various parts of Syria sought refuge there, leading to the establishment of this parish explicitly.
A priest was assigned to oversee its pastoral affairs. Father Paul Malki was appointed to care for the parish starting from the Feast of Apostles on June 29, 2014. On September 7, 2020, Father John Zakimi was appointed to serve the parish, oversee its affairs, and conduct services.
The service in this parish continues on various levels. A Christian Education Center for all stages was established, along with the Mar Bala Syriac Choir and a sisterhood for women.
